Talk to the Camera: Be a Better Spokesperson
(Maximum enrollment:6 students. Cost: $130. Prerequisite:Previous on-camera training and/or comparable on-camera experience.)
Agents and clients need people who can narrate for the camera. For our class work, I'll draw heavily from the teachings of Jane Brody, based on Michael Shurtleff's book, "Audition." Learn specific skills that can enhance your presence when talking directly to the camera. This is a condensed workshop for those with previous camera training and/or significant acting experience. We’ll first work with delivery from the script, as you do for on-camera auditions. Then we’ll work with a teleprompter to be sure you’re comfortable on the job. Finally, we’ll discuss whether an ear-prompter is a good investment for you. In this 6-hour class, you’ll have multiple opportunities to work with actual spokesperson copy for commercials and industrials.
Schedule:
Sundays, October 10 and 17, 1–4pm
Wednesdays, November
3 and 10, 6–9pm
Voice-over Workout
Maximum enrollment: 6 students. Cost $40 per session.
(Pre-requisites: Voice-over intro and essentials workshops listed above, or previous VO experience and training.)
Let me know what you want to work, and we’ll work it! Lots of mic time for copy interpretation, play and feedback. Hone your skills, explore different choices, shake-up your “default mode,” and discover new ways to give sharper VO auditions.
Wednesday, October 13, 6pm
