Praise for "The Acting Biz:"
"This book is a treasure - a long-hoped-for and much-needed resource for Minnesota actors - essential for “newbies” and a welcome refresher for the experienced actor. Beth is, foremost, a gifted teacher, able to anticipate and address her eager students’ questions and concerns. That, combined with her experience in the field as talent and agent, her dedication to research detail and clarity, her impeccable honesty and integrity, and her genuine caring and respect for actors, shines through to benefit everyone in the “Biz.” (Cheryl Moore Brinkley, actor, director, teacher, AEA, SAG, AFTRA)
"When my talent need advice and coaching, I send them to Beth. I would advise any new talent to read this book before approaching an agent for representation. The information can save you time, frustration and most likely some of your hard-earned money. Most importantly, it may very well increase your chances of success in the Twin Cities talent market." (Peta Barrett, owner/ agent of NUTS - The Non-Union Talent Service.)
"This book should be on the shelf of every actor, even the seasoned ones, as a reference for successful habits in the business. I love that it absolutely reflects Beth's real life tone. She is nurturing, yet firm. She's knowledgeable and real and humble... her experience and knowledge make this book absolutely invaluable." (Megan Kelly, local actress -- recently seen as Tina in "Tony and Tina's wedding.")
"Anyone who wants to pursue acting work in the Twin Cities should read this right away. Chaplin offers many cut-to-the-truth insights that often take years to discover as someone new to the biz. By reading this book you'll eliminate many months (or years) of frustration that can face someone trying to break in. The writing is frank, honest and right-on. . ." (Jenni Lilledahl, actor, improv artist and co-owner, Brave New Workshop, founded by Dudley Riggs.)
"If knowledge is power, this book is powerful." (Jean Rohn of JR Casting)
"This is a comprehensive, honest and practical handbook for anyone seeking work as an actor in the greater Minneapolis/St. Paul market, especially for those pursuing a full- or part-time on-camera career. Beth left no stone unturned, speaking thoughtfully and informatively on virtually every aspect of film and commercial performing, guiding new and seasoned artists alike through the confusing, often mysterious, business of being an actor. I have been a successful actor and director in the Twin Cities for over 12 years, and even I learned a new thing or two that I can put into practice today! Beth's tone throughout her book is assured, candid, personal and refreshingly humorous. I would confidently recommend this book as essential reading for any burgeoning on-camera talent." (David Coral, Actor / Director)
